Techniche Global are supporting an engineering company to appoint a SHE specialist responsible for developing and nurturing a behavioural safety culture across the UK business, ensuring compliance with relevant safety, health and environmental legislation and HSG65. This involves working with line managers across the business so that all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental performance are well managed at all sites and in the field. Broad subject matter expertise, accreditations and at least 3 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or process industries setting is required.

  Rate:                     up to £37k for experienced candidatesLocation:              The role can be based primarily from either office: Telford or Halesowen but will require a visit once a week to the alternative site. The role is 5 days a week in company offices.Duration:             perm/ full-time  The main tasks for this role will include, but are not limited to:
  • Legal compliance
  • Understanding of best practice
  • Risk and COSHH Assessments
  • Method statements
  • Safety site audits
  • Data gathering and REACH reporting if required
  • Identification of potential hazards and formulation of mitigating action plans
  • Compiling SHE statistics and providing data/analysis on a regular basis
  • SHE training material and roll out
  • Incident investigations, root cause analysis and behavioural change management
  • Regular equipment safety checks (e.g. ladder / racking / machinery)
  • Appropriate use of PPE
  • Identifying environmental improvements / projects to reduce carbon footprint. Formulation of business case and action plan. External reporting as required.
  • Implementation of required practices to comply with new legislation, including but not limited to plastic tax
  • Ensuring full compliance with the EHS, Corporate Sustainability and Social Responsibility Policies of the organisation
  • Carbon Footprint Data record keeping, reporting and improvement action and management
  • SSIP platform maintenance
  • Ad hoc projects and initiatives as required
  Qualifications/ Experience:
  • Support of cultural change / management skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Broad subject matter expertise in the areas of Safety, Health and Environmental performance
  • Understanding of ergonomics in context of employee health and wellbeing
  • Process safety experience
  • Awareness of developing legislation
  • Communication Skills
  • Knowledge of lean / 6S tools
  • Experience of implementing ISO 50001
  • Dynamic / forward looking / using modern techniques
  • Team player who coaches, develops and supports learning
