Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs? Dunbar Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team at a SEN (Special Educational Needs) school in Telford.

About the Role: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with severe learning difficulties, helping them achieve their full potential in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with severe learning difficulties and SEMH needs.

  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Assist in managing challenging behavior using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement strategies.

  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.

  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of engaging activities tailored to pupils' needs.

  • Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs or severe learning difficulties is essential.

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.

  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
