We are looking for a Transport Planner to join our team.
The purpose of this role is toallocate specific vehicles and Drivers to each job, arrange for delivery of our product and ensure processes are being adhered to, whilst always providing the most cost-effective solution

How will you contribute?

  • Optimise deliveries to achieve the highest Journey payload in pursuit of optimum KPI efficiency and thus minimise cost through the production of several plans and then choosing the optimal solution, from both a service and cost perspective
  • Liaise with external hauliers as required
  • Understand, interpret & ensure timely delivery of all orders received from the business
  • Manage the customer delivery lead-time. (ATP)
  • A Direct point of contact between Logistics and Driver Support team
  • Engage where possible the most cost-effective delivery solution focusing on cost control without compromising Group service level aspirations.
  • Develop positive relationships with all stakeholders to ensure that all have the ability to contribute to and challenge the delivery plan.
  • To be the primary link between Sales, Operations, and logistics for all matters affecting the delivery plan.
  • Ensure the delivery plans reflect resource availability
  • Produce strategic plans identifying pinch points and resource availability issues
  • Take an active role in the Plan/Do/Review cycle to drive continuous leanings into the overall planning processes
  • To work with the Sites and 3rdParty Hauliers to identify potential improvements in both cost and service facing elements
  • To provide support and information as part of budget compilation and monitoring
  • To ensure the respective systems are accurate and updated at all times to take into account ever changing factors (Road Closures, Speeds, Delivery point unloading-loading times) and overall Housekeeping is maintained
  • Providing training to colleagues where required
  • Ensuring correct/timely changes are made within the respective systems to protect service to customer (timely deliveries)
  • Producing KPI reports detailing performance across all key measures whilst identifying remedial actions where required to achieve agreed targets

Requirements

  • Previous experience in transport planning.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and have the ability to organise your own workload, prioritise duties in line with changing business demands.
  • Able to consult with senior management and act as link between Logistics Planning Sales and Operations.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Logical thinker with a good attention to detail and high level of commitment.
  • High level of written & verbal communication skills, both in one to one and in a group setting.
  • Have strong problem solving, analysis, numerical & IT skills
