Project Accountant - Permanent Role with Leading Defence Sector Firm

Our client, a prominent firm in the defense sector, is actively looking for a Project Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. This critical role will help ensure the financial integrity and efficiency of various projects and programmes across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure projects and programmes comply with established financial controls and processes.

  • Continuously update project performance analyses, helping the Project Management community fully understand project financials.

  • Apply consistent methodologies across all programmes, particularly in relation to contingency, risk, and milestones.

  • Support bids by providing financial analysis and contributing financial expertise.

  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate billing and transaction application to relevant projects and programmes.

  • Assist with both external and internal audits, from project overviews to financial reports and reconciliations.

  • Meet all financial reporting deadlines for transactions and reporting related to projects.

Job Requirements:
  • Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant with a recognized accountancy qualification.

  • Previous experience in the defense industry is highly preferred.

  • Strong coordination and communication skills.

  • Comfortable engaging with employees at all organizational levels.

  • Experience with integrated ERP systems handling engineering and manufacturing transactions.

  • Proven background in programme and project management and understanding of project accounting techniques.

  • Strong financial modelling skills for bid construction and investment analysis.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective relationships in a multi-disciplinary environment.

  • High levels of respect, diplomacy, and tact when dealing with stakeholders.

  • Resilient, adaptable, and naturally inquisitive.
