An introduction to the Planning Lawyer opportunity and our client:

Sellick Partnership is delighted to be working exclusively with One Legal to recruit a permanent Planning Lawyer. One Legal is a shared legal service between four councils in Gloucestershire, offering a unique opportunity for ambitious lawyers/legal officers to work with a varied caseload. They are seeking an ambitious lawyer who is ready for a dynamic and challenging environment to help them grow their legal team.

About the Planning Lawyer vacancy:

  • The successful candidate will be joining an experienced and supportive team of lawyers, providing a wide range of legal advice and support in relation to planning matters.
  • The role includes responsibility for the management and supervision of those in posts of Trainee Lawyer and/or Paralegal and any other members of the team as allocated.
  • The role offers the opportunity to work on the impact of biodiversity net gain.

Key duties of the Planning Lawyer will include:

  • Full range of development management work including advice on enforcement, applications and appeals (potentially including advocacy at hearings and inquiries).
  • There may be potential for planning committee attendance, but this will be confirmed with the successful candidate.
  • Planning obligations (including in respect of biodiversity net gain), highways/rights of way and community infrastructure levy work.
  • Assisting on court challenges (statutory and judicial review), development consent order processes, planning based compulsory purchase and planning policy work.
