BRILLIANT CARETAKER REQUIRED FOR FAMILY HOME IN THE HAMPSHIRE COUNTRYSIDE

Location: Near Basingstoke, Hampshire

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, negotiable DOE

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Status: Live-out, ideally

We are assisting a lovely family with the recruitment of an experienced and proactive Caretaker for their primary home in the Hampshire countryside near Basingstoke. Overseeing the maintenance of the grounds and property, this is a hands-on role requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage stakeholder and community relationships.

A smart, well-presented team player with a can-do attitude, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with the gardener ensure the continued smooth running of the grounds and property, managing the day-to-day maintenance of the property and liaising with relevant tradesmen and contractors where required. The role requires a detail-oriented Caretaker with a strong sense of initiative, finesse and excellent problem-solving skills, as well as a flexible nature and willingness to take on a range of tasks as needed to.

Core working hours are Monday to Friday from 8am/9am - 5pm/6pm, but flexibility will be required to support the family outside of these hours and on occasional weekends when required, with time off in lieu. A driver with a full UK driving license and your own reliable vehicle, you will ideally live within a commutable distance from the property and be an animal and countryside lover. For the right candidate, a live-in option could possibly be available.

DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Maintain strong relationships with community, councils, and local stakeholders, ensuring all necessary licenses and permissions are in place
  • Oversee and participate in the maintenance and care of grounds and property, ensuring all areas are well-kept, safe, and in excellent condition
  • Monitor the security of the property and implement safety measures as necessary
  • Proactively address any issues or challenges that arise, offering practical solutions with a can-do attitude
  • Ensure all regulations, including health and safety standards, are met and adhered to
  • Ad-hoc errand running

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Previous experience in a similar role in a countryside setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Hands-on approach with a problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to pre-empt needs and a team player mentality
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Practical DIY skills and hands-on with a strong work ethic
  • Knowledge of property maintenance best practices and safety regulations
  • Familiarity with budgeting and ?nancial management principles
  • Trustworthy, reliable, professional and smart
  • Fluency in English (written & verbal)
  • A driver with access to your own car & full UK driving license
  • The right to live and work in the UK
