We are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor to join our team, focusing on supporting students who face challenges in mainstream education. This role is not only about teaching but also heavily involves pastoral care, making it ideal for candidates who are passionate about making a significant impact in their students' educational and personal development.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in Functional Skills Maths and English, tailored to students with diverse educational needs.
  • Provide pastoral support to students, helping them overcome barriers to learning and personal challenges.
  • Develop and adapt teaching materials to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Monitor and assess students' progress, providing regular feedback to help them achieve their potential.
  • Collaborate with other educational professionals to plan and coordinate support across different areas of student needs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of the curriculum and teaching resources.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in teaching Functional Skills Maths and/or English.
  • A teaching qualification is highly desirable, though candidates with significant teaching experience will also be considered.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Commitment to providing pastoral care and support to students.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt teaching methods to suit individual learner needs.
  • Experience working with students who struggle in mainstream educational settings is advantageous.
