An established Groundworks & Civil Engineering Contractor based in Taunton is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who specializes in groundworks to join their team.


Duties

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
  • Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures to maintain budgetary compliance.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of proposed projects from a financial perspective.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate pricing and timely delivery of materials.
  • Prepare tender documents and assist in the evaluation of bids from contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to projects, including invoices and payments.
  • Provide regular reports on project costs and forecasts to management and stakeholders.
  • Assist in resolving any disputes related to costs or contracts during the project execution phase.

 

It is essential or preferrable that you have the following experience, qualifications or skills;

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the house building sector is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cost control principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

About the Client

Our client is an established Groundworks & Civil Engineering Contractors based in Taunton. They specialise predominantly in residential development with projects from £200,000 up to circa £(phone number removed) within Somerset, Devon and North Cornwall. In addition to residential development they also cover all other fields of groundwork from small off site projects requiring street work certification to specialised civil engineering.
