Location: Croydon University Hospital (although once project finishes London and surrounding areas)

Our client is a construction company specialising in healthcare projects. We are committed to delivering high-quality healthcare facilities, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. Our projects range from hospital refurbishments, new theatres and install of MRI and CT scanners, to working in private health care facilities , all requiring a thorough understanding of both construction processes and healthcare regulations.

Role Overview:

As an Assistant Site Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our Senior Site Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of healthcare construction projects. You will work closely with all stakeholders, including contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and the client, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Management Support: Assist the Senior Site Manager in managing all on-site construction activities for healthcare projects, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to timelines.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all health and safety regulations are strictly followed on site, with a strong focus on the safety of both workers and the future occupants of the healthcare facility.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to ensure that construction work meets quality standards, specifications, and regulations, including healthcare-specific requirements.
  • Coordination and Communication: Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure that the project runs efficiently. Support in facilitating regular site meetings and coordination between stakeholders.
  • Resource Management: Assist with managing and tracking labour, materials, and equipment, ensuring resources are used efficiently and project needs are met.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Assist in maintaining up-to-date project documentation, including health and safety records, progress reports, and quality assurance documentation. Prepare reports for the Senior Site Manager
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant building codes, healthcare-specific regulations, and project specifications.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address any on-site issues promptly, escalating them as necessary to the Senior Site Manager.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • At least 2-3 years of experience in site management or a similar role, preferably in healthcare construction projects.
    • Experience with construction projects, including hospital or healthcare facility construction, is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety regulations, and healthcare-specific building requirements.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
    • A proactive and solution-oriented approach to challenges.
    • Attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety.
    • Ability to work effectively within a team and under the supervision of a Senior Site Manager.
  • Certifications:
    • Health and Safety certification: CSCS, SMSTS, First Aid preferred.
