Role: CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGIST

Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire

 

Salary: Up to £25,500

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week Ref: 36/24

Our client has a full-time vacancy for a Chemical Technologist to work in their Chemistry department in Kettering.

About The Department

The chemical testing team consists of around 20 multi-skilled technicians, technologists, and other support staff.
The chemical laboratory houses a range of analytical equipment with the team assessing products for the presence of restricted substances and assessing the chemical properties of a range of consumer products against international and European standards to show due diligence or to apply for CE or UKCA certification.

About The Role


This is an office-based role with the focus on technical knowledge, customer liaison and scheduling workloads.
After sufficient training, the successful candidate will be required to deliver regular webinar and seminar presentations and have face to face meetings with customers, both on and off site and which may involve overseas travel.
As a Chemical Technologist you will be required to carry out the following:
Advising customers regarding current chemical testing requirements and legislation
Be involved in writing, sending and checking technical reports
Discussing results with customers and producing accurate detailed reports to strict deadlines
Responding to customer enquiries
Preparing and following up simple and complex quotations that will include multiple products and cross-referencing materials
Helping maintain up to date knowledge on European, UK and US chemical legislation including writing technical articles
Processing customer jobs and scheduling testing work

About You
Must have at least ‘A’ level qualifications in a science subject and ideally mathematics. A degree level qualification in chemistry or related subject would be desirable.
Excellent organisational, time management and communication skills are required with a logical and methodical approach to working and a meticulous eye for detail.

You should have experience in meeting deadlines and organising priorities and workloads.
Helpful attitude towards colleagues and customers
Able to follow instructions accurately and to learn new tasks quickly
Previous customer facing experience is desirable
