Business Development Manager

Location: Tilbury, Essex

Reporting to: Head of Sales

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:30

Job Type: Permanent

The Opportunity: A fast-growing logistics company is looking for an ambitious Junior Business Development Manager to join its expanding team. With a strong reputation for delivering seamless global shipping solutions, this organisation has grown rapidly since its inception in 2009. As part of its continued success, it is now looking to strengthen its sales team with a driven individual eager to develop their career in business development.

Role Overview: This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to take their first or next step in business development. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and engaging potential clients, nurturing strong business relationships, and driving sales growth. This role is ideal for someone with a proactive attitude who thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify potential clients and generate new business opportunities through cold calling and networking.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline, ensuring consistent growth.
  • Engage with prospective and existing clients through phone calls, virtual meetings, and in-person visits.
  • Understand client needs and tailor solutions to meet their requirements effectively.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and company services to provide informed recommendations.

Who Should Apply? The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years of experience in sales (industry experience preferred but not essential, as full training is provided).
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Confidence in handling outbound sales calls and presenting solutions to clients.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets and CRM systems.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently.
  • The resilience and determination to achieve and exceed targets.
