Senior NPD Manager

Monday to Friday 8am-4pm (Flexible dependant on business needs)

Day to Day Duties

  • Lead and manage the NPD team, ensuring all projects are delivered to the highest standards within agreed critical path timelines and commercial parameters.
  • Develop and optimise the current development process, improving departmental performance and driving business growth through innovation.
  • Work closely with sales and marketing teams to develop, present, and launch profitable products.
  • Ensure all NPD projects meet retailer, legislative, and internal requirements.
  • Maintain customer and company quality standards while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and company policies.
  • Identify new NPD opportunities, respond to customer briefs, and present innovative solutions to major retailer customers and internal brand owners.
  • Oversee process evaluations, ingredient changes, flavour enhancements, and packaging improvements.
  • Keep up to date with market trends, legislation changes, and technological advancements to drive innovation.
  • Report departmental performance monthly through KPIs, continuously seeking improvements.
  • Support team development through one-to-ones, training, and succession planning.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organised working environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Conduct staff briefings, training sessions, and promote effective communication within the team.
  • Promote and uphold the company’s values, customer focus, and environmental responsibility.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in people management.
  • Previous NPD Manager or Senior Technologist experience, developing concepts through to launch.
  • Experience launching products into multiple market sectors, including retailers, brands, and export markets.
  • Commercial awareness with a strong understanding of profitability and cost control.
  • Excellent organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong numeracy and communication skills.
  • Ability to form effective working relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Teamworking and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage stressful situations diplomatically.

Desirable Experience

  • 10 years of experience in people management.
  • High-level experience launching products into retailers, brands, and global export markets.
  • Industry-recognised food technical qualification (HND/Degree or equivalent).
  • Proven track record of driving business growth through NPD and process optimisation.
