Green Orchard Recruitment is supporting a well-established, growing business in the specialist manufacturing and engineering sector in their search for a Financial Controller.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take a senior role within the finance team, working closely with the Finance Director to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strategic financial planning.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts and ensuring compliance with FRS102 and UK GAAP.
  • Preparing and presenting financial reports to senior leadership, highlighting key metrics and trends.
  • Leading the budgeting and forecasting process, working across departments to improve financial planning.
  • Reviewing and optimising banking operations across the EU, ensuring efficiency and cash flow management.
  • Conducting financial analysis, including profitability reviews, cost structures, and capital expenditure planning.
  • Managing external audits and working closely with third-party advisors to ensure compliance in UK and European markets.
  • Supporting the implementation and development of Microsoft Business Central, driving process improvements.
  • Providing financial insights to support long-term business planning.
  • Assisting with insurance renewals and managing any in-year claims.
  • Supporting the Finance Director in driving efficiency and financial strategy across the business.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with 5-10 years’ experience in financial management.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, compliance, and UK GAAP (FRS102).
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (ideally Microsoft Business Central) and advanced Excel skills.
  • A commercially minded finance professional who can interpret financial data and support business decision-making.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or technical environment is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with senior stakeholders and external partners.
