Green Orchard Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading engineering company in their search for a Design Technician to join their Research & Development team in Tiverton, Devon.

About the role
Reporting to the Design Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the design and development of new products in line with the company’s business plans. This role is ideal for someone with a practical approach to engineering, an eye for detail, and a solid understanding of the design process.
What you will be doing
- Assisting in the development of new products, ensuring they align with business objectives.
- Creating 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.
- Producing project documentation, including datasheets, catalogues, and customer CAD models.
- Undertaking testing of components and assemblies, gathering and analysing results.
- Maintaining existing product design records and drawings.
- Supporting the production and optimisation of 3D-printed components.
- Assisting with rendered images and animations for projects.
What we are looking for
- A solid understanding of physics and mathematics.
- Practical engineering skills and hands-on experience.
- Familiarity with the design process and principles of Design for Manufacture (DFM).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD software), as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or a qualification in a similar discipline.
