Secretary, Private Client Department - Exeter - Full-timePrivate Client work is a key focus at this firm, and it represents the largest department in their organisation. The firm works with a diverse range of clients, including farmers, landowners, and high-net-worth individuals, providing the firm with a client base that rivals any in the South West. The Private Client department handles a wide array of legal matters and comprises a team of 40, including both fee earners and support staff. The team pride themselves on their strong team ethos, where collaboration is key to delivering high-quality service to clients and colleagues. The firm are currently seeking a full-time secretary to join their Private Client Department in Tiverton, providing essential support to two fee earners. This role requires a highly organised individual with excellent audio typing skills. You'll need to be confident in managing a busy workload, able to use your initiative, and capable of performing well under pressure. The position also involves assisting other members of the department located in different offices via BigHand digital dictation, as well as helping with Reception duties as needed. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality secretarial and typing support with strong attention to detail
  • Use digital dictation and case management software proficiently
  • Provide flexible support for other team members through remote digital dictation when required
  • Manage fee earners' electronic diaries effectively
  • Stay organised and manage competing priorities
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally
  • Work well under pressure, adapting to shifting priorities
  • Take a proactive, positive approach to anticipating and meeting the department's needs
  • Be proficient in Word and other Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel)

Requirements:

  • Proven legal secretarial experience is essential
  • Prior experience in Private Client work is preferred
  • Familiarity with digital dictation systems and case management software is required
