Elevation Recruitment Group are currently partnered with a Global chemical manufacturer in Howden who are looking to hire a Head of Safety & Compliance. A leader in their field, this pivotal role will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Safety and Compliance across their Upper Tier COMAH site in Howden.This is fantastic opportunity for an experienced Safety Professional with expertise in COMAH and process safety to take the lead on a £150 million investment and work for a business with a fantastic existing safety culture.
Key duties & responsibilities:
- Draft, maintain, and manage the COMAH Safety Report for the Howden site
- Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant Competent Authorities (HSE & EA)
- Ensure full compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including COMAH regulations
- Conduct and oversee process safety analyses (PHR, HAZOP, LOPA)
- Ensure effective implementation of risk mitigation measures
- Lead thorough investigations into all incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventative actions
- Analyse safety data to identify trends and proactively address potential hazards
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)
- Establish and enforce strict safety requirements for all contractors operating on site
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Quality Control and Regulatory Affairs teams
- Ensure product and process quality meet all relevant regulatory standards
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience in an Upper Tier COMAH environment
- In-depth knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, including process safety analyses (PHR, HAZOP, LOPA)
- Experience with functional safety systems (SIS, SIF, SIL) is advantageous
