Head of Music department

Tonbridge

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of Music to lead our music department and provide an inspiring educational experience for students. This role involves overseeing the department's operations, supporting and advising staff, and managing the music curriculum across all school levels.

The start date for this role is April 2025, Mon-Fri and is a permanent placement for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the department in line with school policy and objectives
  • Training and conducting school choirs, orchestras, and musical groups
  • Preparing students for music festivals, exams, and school performances
  • Managing the department's budget, resources, and staff
  • Monitoring pupil progress and tracking the development of able students

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Teaching qualification with Qualified Teacher Status
  • Honours degree in a relevant subject
  • Experience teaching students in the relevant age range

Skills & Personal Qualities:

  • Strong teaching and communication skills
  • Good organisational abilities and confidence with IT
  • Enthusiastic and committed to student development
  • Willingness to contribute fully to school life and professional growth
