Shift Supervisor Our client is a well-established, fast-growing, and forward-thinking company specialising in the import of high-end specialty teas, herbs, and infusions from around the world. They are the UK’s market-leading contract packer for specialty teas. The team is focused, friendly, and highly professional. We are currently seeking a Shift Supervisor for the following shift:Hours: 2 PM to 10 PM, Monday to Friday Location: Tonbridge, KentSalary: To be advised upon application. JOB SUMMARY:Assume overall responsibility for all production areas during your shift; effectively manage human and material resources to ensure that goods are produced to the highest quality standards in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Achieve the highest standards in Health & Safety, Food Safety, Quality, and Cost.Maximise profitability through the control of line efficiency, batch yields, and the reduction of out-of-life products, shortages, waste, and complaints. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure the highest quality and food safety standards are embedded in the warehouse during your shift.
  • Maintain the highest standards of hygiene and good housekeeping in the warehouse during your shift (GMP – Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Promote and maintain an “audit-ready” culture within the warehouse by ensuring you understand “what good looks like.”
  • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with managers of other departments (e.g., Quality, Technical) about any warehouse issues that occur (e.g., product quality, late deliveries, product shortages, etc.) that might impact the normal smooth running of other departments.
 RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise all production.
  • Ensure all products are safe, legal, and appropriately segregated.
  • Monitor PRPs (Pre-Requisite Programs).
  • Maintain knowledge of weights and measures legislation.
  • Ensure the team adheres to health and safety requirements.
  • Identify and control non-conformances.
  • Train new staff and rotate training for all staff.
  • Communicate information accurately.
  • Ensure handover to another Shift Supervisor is concise and accurate.
  • Delegate tasks.
  • Monitor and report team performance.
  • Organise finished products and WIP (Work In Progress) with staff and warehouse.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all staff issues.
MAIN TASKS:
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and tidy working environment.
  • Accurately document production.
  • Accurately label products.
  • Serve as a HACCP team member.
  • Cover production runs.
  • Liaise with the Production Manager regarding production priorities.
  • Liaise with the Operations Manager for technical information and system improvements.
  • Check that Picking Sheets and Run Sheets are 100% filled out and accurate.
  • Ensure quality checks are carried out.
  • Identify non-conformances in equipment.
  • Fill out the scissors/knife register.
  • Check the building at the start and end of the day.
  • Ensure the production line is set up appropriately for the product in question.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Good knowledge of customer standards and industry regulations.
  • Strong productivity skills with the ability to optimise workflow and improve efficiency.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues quickly.
  • Leadership and team management abilities to motivate and develop staff.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
