The Role

Credit Risk sits at the core of our lending proposition. Meeting the needs of our customer base whilst juggling risk management is arguably the most important function in our lending proposition.

As a Senior Underwriter you will play a crucial role in evaluating client proposals and determining whether the client meets our lending criteria and ultimately whether or not we choose to support a business.

With your experience of lending to UK SME's, you will provide expert analysis in producing time sensitive decisions to a highly thorough standard. You will have a key part in making sure that the business reaches its objectives, without compromise to risk management.

Responsibilities

• Research and collate information relevant to make credit decisions, keeping appropriate records of information received.

• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to gather information required to make informed lending decisions.

• Thorough assessment of qualitative and quantitative information available both internally and externally demonstrating sound credit risk prowess.

• Structure transactions based on your knowledge of risk management.

• Ensure timely completion of credit risk assessment within our standard SLAs.

• Assist colleagues with any risk related queries.

• Participation in additional company projects, contributing your expertise in credit risk.

• Identify high risk accounts and liaise with internal/external stakeholders as appropriate in highlighting these accounts, making recommendations as appropriate.

• Support Collections Team where appropriate with recovery cases.

• Offer recommendations of best practices and provide coaching to junior colleagues.

• Develop and enhance credit processes that improve and streamline our lending proposition

 Requirements: 

• 3+ years working in a similar underwriting role, preferably in alternative finance.

• Strong knowledge of credit risk and an ability to "think outside of the box."

• A thorough understanding of UK SME's.

• In depth knowledge of financial accounts with the ability to thoroughly analyse P&L accounts, Balance Sheets and Cashflow Forecasts.
