Job: Purchasing ControllerLocation - TonbridgeSalary - GBP50,000 to GBP55,000My established client is looking for a Purchasing Controller who has a manufacturing background to join a Purchasing Team in Tonbridge - owing to the location you will need to be a car driverGENERAL SUMMARY:For this role, you will need to be someone who is a motivated self-starter, logical, methodical and objective aware with a proven track record of achieving cost-down targets and managing commercial risk. You will be an innovative thinker with strong influencing skills and the ability to manage a project from start to finish. As part of a small team, you should be analytical and investigative in nature with a practical approach. You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to adjust to change whilst working within set guidelines. You will also be a good organiser and planner with excellent decision-making skills and attention to detail.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Experience in reading Technical Drawings to understand purchasing requirementsEnsuring timely and effective stock replenishment.Successfully managing overstocked and unneeded inventory by developing both internal and external relationshipsUsing ERP system, manage the placement of purchase orders to maintain supplies.Manage and optimize freight costs for supplier base.Constantly review and develop order parameters controlling purchase order generation.Constantly review and suggest improvements to procurement processes to bring efficiencies/cost savings to the Supply ChainResolve issues on a timely basis, understand root cause and take corrective action.Develop supplier relationships and introduce measurement tools to improve supplier performance.Developing relationships and influencing key internal customers to promote professional purchasing principles across the business ensuring timely communication and problem resolution.Maintain ERP system parameters and ensure relevant maintenance is completed on a timely basis.Cost effectively negotiate supply agreements for a range of commodities to secure best cost of acquisitionEnsure that supplier details and product price information are accurately maintained on the appropriate system.Managing new supplier introduction process to ensure compliance to ISO 9001Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.Working hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4pm onsite, occasional WFH dependant on the business needs
