Accounts Assistant
Totnes, Devon
£25,000 - £30,000 per annum

Our client, a diverse organisation in the south-west, is currently seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their dynamic Finance team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Accounts Assistant, you will support the organisation and finance function by managing purchase and sales ledgers, processing payments, reconciling bank transactions, overseeing Direct Debits, and handling queries, all while ensuring procedural accuracy and efficiency.

The responsibilities:

  • Manage purchase ledger entries.
  • Maintain invoice workflows, post expenses, and credit card statements.
  • Liaise with departments to resolve purchase ledger queries.
  • Prepare weekly supplier payments via BACS.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and resolve transactions.
  • Oversee Direct Debit payments and promote as a payment method.
  • Assist with sales ledger queries, credit control, and improve ledger procedures.
  • Provide support and cover for the Accounts team as needed.

The candidate:

  • AAT Level 4 qualification, equivalent experience, or similar credentials.
  • Proven experience in an Accounts Assistant or comparable accounting/finance role.
  • Strong numerical aptitude with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
