Financial Accountant

As a Financial Accountant, you'll be responsible for preparing statutory financial statements, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and tax regulations. You will also play a key role in group reporting, consolidation, and the year-end close process, working closely with internal teams and external auditors to ensure accurate financial records and timely reporting.

What you'll do
  • Statutory & Regulatory Compliance

    • Prepare and submit statutory financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
    • Ensure timely completion of Companies House filings, HMRC submissions, and other regulatory requirements.
    • Assist with corporation tax returns, VAT returns, and other statutory filings.
  • Audit & Year-End Responsibilities

    • Manage the year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
    • Liaise with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and responding to queries.
    • Prepare audit schedules and support the resolution of audit findings.
    • Ensure appropriate reconciliations and controls are in place for key balance sheet items.
  • Group Reporting & Consolidation

    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
    • Support group reporting processes, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations.
    • Assist with cash flow forecasting and analysis for group-level reporting.
    • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and group-level adjustments.
  • Financial Planning & Technical Support

    • Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and tax reporting.
    • Provide technical guidance on accounting and financial reporting matters.
    • Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external consultants.
What you'll need
  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified accountant or demonstrably QBE.
  • Proven experience in statutory accounting within a group of companies, preferably in the UK.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and UK taxation requirements.
  • Experience managing year-end processes, external audits, and group reporting.
  • Proficiency in month-end consolidation, cash flow reporting, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork.
