Process Control Engineer - Materials
Based: Silverstone
Salary: Up to £45K
Job Purpose:
As someone with a materials science PhD professional you will work closely with the additive manufacturing operational and sales teams to be focused to align business capability to customer requirements ensuring process control. You will support sales functions to enable the uptake of additive manufacturing within the various targeted sectors.
Main Key Responsibilities:
• Provide knowledge on additive manufacturing topics such as: powder composition, effects of lasers on the powder, stress reliving of metal builds
• Evaluate the microstructural response during mechanical testing e.g. tensile testing
• Perform characterisation of metal AM components, including microscopy (Porosity testing)
• Design and perform experiments resulting in the production of material datasheets for each material base
•Document results of all testing activities and continue to develop datasheets including the effects of various post processing techniques
• Continually develop process control throughout the additive manufacturing process
• Create and maintain relationships with external facilities such as test houses and universities
• Adhere to all health and safety requirements and perform any other reasonable duties as required
• Ensure the completion of all mechanical of materials and samples produced
• Ensure the quality of incoming metal powder
• Assist in the day-to-day duties of inspection including, visual and dimensional inspection.
