We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Family Paralegal to join our dynamic team in Nelson. This role will involve both assisting senior solicitors and managing your own caseload in a busy, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have a passion for family law and be ready to take on responsibility within a supportive and forward-thinking firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting senior family solicitors with legal research, drafting documents, and preparing case files.
  • Managing your own caseload of family law matters, including divorce, children’s arrangements, and financial settlements.
  • Attending court hearings and client meetings, as required.
  • Communicating with clients, opposing parties, and third parties on a range of family law matters.
  • Preparing correspondence and legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Managing and organising case files in an efficient manner, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Providing administrative support to the family law team as necessary.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience or a strong interest in family law (either through previous paralegal roles or academic background).
  • Ability to handle a caseload independently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive and professional approach to all tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in family law (ideally 1+ years).
  • Legal qualification (or studying towards).
