Thorn Baker is working in collaboration with an established facilities management company to source a Cleaning Area Manager, mixed business retial contracts across Tunbridge Wells, Crawley, Brighton and Heathfield (to name a few). If you are an experienced cleaning manager, ideally with experience managing retail contracts looking to reduce the amount of sites you are looking aftery and would like to work for a fair, forward thinking company please read and apply.

The objective of the Area Manager is as follows:- 

  • Ensure that the service (s) / contracts under the Area Manager's control achieve budgeted profit levels set by the board directors
  • Ensure that all operations are carried out in line with board policies and procedures
  • Train all staff and carry out an induction training program before commencement with the company
  • Ensure that a quality service is provided to clients by implementing stringent procedures and employing well-trained, professional, and motivated personnel
  • Conduct regular visits to carry out cleaning inspections and support the team with any issues 
  • Ensure that the service (s)/ contracts under the Area Manager's control, achieve budgeted profit levels set by the board of directors.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Health & Safety of all personnel within the Area Manager's span of control, ensuring the company's Health & Safety policy is implemented and adhered to at all times
  • Responsible for ensuring Health & Safety considerations are taken into account by completing a "Risk Assessment" when preparing one-off quotations
  • Responsible for ensuring that the equipment used at each location is regularly checked to ensure it is in line with the Electricity at Work Act
  • Plans the allocation of tasks and responsibilities for personnel within their site
  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities effectively with effective management skills and coaching
  • Ensures their staff are properly briefed and understand all SLA's
  • Ensures key roles within the Area are covered, including all staffing levels
  • Visiting sites on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to build a strong rapport with the client on-site (visits will be expected to be up to half a day per site)
  • Ensures administrative paperwork for the services/contracts is maintained
  • Ensures all timesheets for the works carried out are checked and signed off before them being given to your line manager for final approval.
  • Ensure that the Site Dairy forms are signed off by the client every month
  • Conduct and complete monthly audits
