About the Company:
Our client is a prestigious Tier 1 Main Contractor, specialising in the delivery of complex projects within the Industrial and Logistics sector. With a strong presence in the industry, they focus on high-value, large-scale projects for renowned end users. With an upcoming project set to span the next two years, they are seeking a highly experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a flagship warehouse development project in the Kent area.

Role Overview:
The Project Director will play a critical leadership role in managing and delivering a high-value industrial project for a major end user. The project, which involves the development of large-scale warehouse and industrial units, is anticipated to run for the next two years. You will oversee all phases of the project, from initial planning and design through to completion, ensuring that it is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the warehouse and industrial unit project, valued at over 70million, for a key end user client.
  • Lead and manage the project team, ensuring effective collaboration across all departments, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Manage project planning, design, procurement, construction, and handover phases, ensuring that all deadlines and targets are met.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on project objectives, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Develop, manage, and review project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure cost and time efficiency, mitigating risks and ensuring project profitability.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality control protocols on site.
  • Oversee the procurement process, managing relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the best outcomes for the project.
  • Provide regular project updates to senior management, ensuring that any issues are flagged and managed proactively.
  • Foster a positive working environment, motivating project teams and ensuring continuous development of junior staff members.

Key Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (essential).
  • Proven track record in Project Director roles, with extensive experience in managing warehouse and industrial unit projects.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering large-scale projects valued at 25 million or more.
  • Strong experience working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 Main Contractors in the Industrial and Logistics sector.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate large project teams.
  • Highly skilled in project management software, budgeting, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards, health & safety regulations, and construction methodologies.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage and control project costs.

Desirable Skills:

  • Professional chartered status (MRICS, APM, etc.) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Prior experience managing projects for end user clients in the warehouse or logistics sector is highly preferred.
  • Experience working on projects with extended timelines, particularly in the range of two years or more.
