The ideal candidate for this role would play a valuable role in ensuring projects are completed within regulations and clients needs are met.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all technical aspects of the substation construction, ensuring that engineering designs and plans are implemented correctly.
- Conduct site surveys and setting out work, ensuring that structures and installations are built to the exact specifications and tolerances outlined in design drawings.
- Inspect and verify that construction activities meet design specifications, industry standards, and company quality requirements.
- Identify any potential technical issues and propose solutions.
- Work closely with the Site Manager and construction teams to ensure smooth progression of the project according to schedule. Coordinate with other engineers, subcontractors, and site personnel as needed.
- Identify engineering or design issues that arise during the build and propose effective solutions.
- Collaborate with design engineers and the project management team to resolve technical challenges.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations on-site, particularly in regard to electrical safety protocols within the substation environment.
- Oversee the selection and procurement of construction materials, ensuring they meet the project specifications and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of site activities, including progress reports, technical evaluations, and as-built drawings. Report any issues, delays, or technical modifications to the Project Manager.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and inspectors, providing updates on technical progress and addressing any queries related to engineering work.
- Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a construction engineering role, with proven experience working on substation or utility infrastructure projects.
- CSCS card (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of substation construction, electrical systems, and utility regulations. Familiarity with grounding, control rooms, switchgear, and high-voltage equipment is essential.
Day rates are negotiable and additional benefits will depend on the work status of candidates.
