We are working with a leading Main Contractor delivering a long-term MOD framework in Reading, offering a secure pipeline of work for a minimum of 3 years, with potential for further extension. The project comprises a combination of new build and refurbishment schemes, forming part of a wider defence infrastructure programme. The new build elements will include a variety of structures such as office buildings, training facilities, storage units, and ancillary buildings, constructed using a mix of steel frame and reinforced concrete (RC) frame construction methods. Refurbishment works will involve upgrades to existing MOD facilities, including internal reconfigurations, M&E enhancements, and fabric repairs within live operational environments.

Security Clearance Required

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to undergo security vetting.

Role: 

  • Develop and manage detailed project programmes using Primavera P6
  • Support project teams with short-term, medium-term, and master construction schedules
  • Monitor progress against baseline programmes and highlight any variances or delays
  • Liaise with the site team, design managers, and commercial leads to ensure accurate reporting
  • Contribute to progress reporting, lookahead planning, and earned value analysis
  • Identify programme risks, propose mitigation strategies, and support re-sequencing where required
  • Assist with tender programmes and bid submissions where necessary

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Planner on major construction projects, ideally within MOD or secured environments
  • Strong understanding of Primavera P6 and planning principles for both new build and refurbishment works
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies including steel and RC frame
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communicator able to engage with multidisciplinary project teams
  • Eligibility for security clearance is essential
