We have a great opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join our team at our Chartley office. As our Assistant Buyer you will be responsible for assisting and supporting the Procurement Manager to ensure specified materials are available on site to meet programmes and assist with the efficient running of the material purchasing functionWe specialise in surfacing and groundwork. Our extensive array of services caters to both corporate and private clients, spanning various industries and leisure sectors. Our range of projects include civils, sustainable drainage, tarmac surfacing and installation of Multi-use games areas.What you’ll do as Assistant Buyer:
  • Assist the Procurement Manager to ensure materials are delivered to sites in line with site programmes and specification and are purchased at competitive prices.
  • Assist in the collation of documentation and issuing of material tender enquiries.
  • Assist in the assessment and comparison of material quotations
  • Process new material orders
  • Assist in production of monthly reports detailing material spend
  • Work with the Procurement Manager to research new and relevant products
  • Carry out invoice checking procedure and where necessary deal with invoice queries
  • Continually monitor material lead times, keeping site managers informed, instigate forward material allocation when necessary
  • Assist with site call offs
  • Provide general assistance to the Contracts & Estimating team as and when required
  • To maintain relationships with suppliers to maximise the profitability of the Company.
What we’re looking for in an Assistant Buyer:
  • Previous experience in the role
  • General education to GCSE grade A-C or equivalent
  • IT literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience in collecting and analysing data
  • Experience in negotiations and networking
  • Experience in managing the end-to-end procurement process.
  • Experience or background in procurement of building & construction materials
This is a full-time role working Monday-Friday, 08:00-17:00.
