About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support financial planning, budget development, and reporting processes. You will work closely with senior finance professionals to ensure effective financial management and accurate reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the budget planning and monitoring process.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and systems for effective reporting.
  • Ensure the council’s staffing establishment is fully reflected within financial systems.
  • Assist in the annual budget production and monthly monitoring.
  • Manage financial data, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organisational structures.
  • Support grant income tracking and financial reconciliations.
  • Prepare financial reports and statistical returns as required.
  • Provide technical support on general ledger, payroll, and income systems.

Skills & Experience Required

? Finance Qualification – AAT qualified or part-qualified CCAB accountant. ? Local Government Finance Experience – Understanding of accounting principles in local government finance. ? IT & Systems Proficiency – Experience with financial systems and strong Excel skills. ? Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to present financial data clearly and accurately. ? Time Management – Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. ? Communication & Teamwork – Strong interpersonal skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
