A leading bio-pharmaceutical company is looking for a Senior Employee Relations Manager Mandarin or Cantonese speaking to join their HR team in Stockley Park. You'll be part of a dynamic team, focusing on Employee Relations (ER) support in the UK and various international locations, with a particular emphasis on the Mandarin or Cantonese market. This role is integral to our strategic initiatives and will report to the Head of International Employee Relations.

* Location: Stockley Park, UK* Pay: £70,000-£80,000 p/a (DoE) * Start: 21/10/2024* End: 20/04/2025

Role Overview:Reporting to the Head of International Employee Relations in the UK, this role is responsible for managing a broad range of employee relations (ER) cases and supporting business change projects, with a focus on Asia.Based in London, the Senior Employee Relations Manager will work closely with the UK ER team and support the Asia ER lead with advisory services across Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Australia. Early morning starts will be required, with hours of work open for discussion.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide ER support in the UK and collaborate with the Lead ER partner in Asia.
  • Serve as an expert on ER issues like performance management, investigations, disciplinary actions, terminations, and HR policies.
  • Advise and support employees, managers, and HR by conducting investigations, responding to complaints, and supporting business changes.
  • Offer insights on employment principles, employee relations, performance management, and workplace investigations.
  • Review and recommend ER policies, create change management plans, and identify workplace trends.
  • Analyse employee relations data to develop programs for an ideal work environment.
  • Design and facilitate HR training and workshops.
  • Collaborate with Legal and other departments on ER matters.
  • Support investigations and cross-border projects.

Requirements:

  • Exercise discretion and independent judgement on sensitive ER issues.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving to unique situations.
  • Work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborate across functions and geographies.
  • Handle difficult conversations and sensitive information.
  • Have knowledge of relevant labour and employment laws.
  • Be proficient in tools like Workday, ServiceNow, Office365, and OneDrive.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of ER experience and a BS or BA degree.
  • Employment Law Degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in English; Mandarin or Cantonese is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Broad HR knowledge in the UK and Asia.
  • Ability to provide strategic advice and interact with employees at all levels.
  • Effective customer service, teamwork, and networking skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work.
