Our clienys are a well-established and nurturing private day nursery in Wakefield, dedicated to providing exceptional early years education. Their focus is on creating a safe, stimulating, and engaging environment where children can grow, learn, and develop. We are currently looking for an experienced and passionate Room Leader to lead our Baby Room and bring fresh ideas to enhance the experience for both children and the team.
Job Description:
As a Room Leader, you will take full responsibility for the smooth running of the Baby Room, leading a team of Early Years Practitioners and ensuring the delivery of outstanding care and education. You will be responsible for planning and implementing a play-based curriculum in line with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework, observing, and supporting the development of each child, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for both children and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of practitioners in the Baby Room, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure high standards of care.
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote the developmental milestones of children in line with the EYFS.
- Plan, prepare, and review individual children's learning journeys and progress, ensuring a focus on observations, assessments, and next steps.
- Support the key person system, ensuring that each child's individual needs are met and parents are fully involved in their child's development.
- Ensure the room is always well-resourced, clean, and safe, following health and safety guidelines and maintaining a stimulating environment for learning.
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers, providing regular feedback on their child's progress and activities.
- Keep up to date with current early years practice and ensure regulatory compliance with Ofsted standards and safeguarding procedures.
- Take part in regular team meetings, supervision, and training opportunities to develop professionally.
Essential Criteria:
- A minimum of Level 3 Early Years Qualification (or equivalent) is required.
- At least 2 years' experience working in a childcare setting, with a significant amount of experience in leading or supervising a team.
- A sound understanding of the EYFS and the ability to implement it effectively within a nursery setting.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and support colleagues.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a passion for working with babies and young children.
- A commitment to providing high-quality care and education, with an ability to plan, observe, and assess.
- An up-to-date DBS check and a clear understanding of safeguarding practices and child protection procedures.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working with babies or toddlers within an early years setting.
- Knowledge of inclusion and diversity within early years practice.
- Ability to develop and implement creative ideas to enhance the environment and children's learning experiences.
