Reed Accountancy are proud to be working with a business in Wakefield who are recruiting a Credit Controller to join their team on a temporary basis for 6 months. You will manage the company’s credit control ensuring timely payment of invoices, reducing the risk of bad debt.

Location: WakefieldSalary: £26k - £30k Job Type: Full-time (part-time candidates considered) 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Chase Invoices: Actively pursue overdue payments.
  • Maximize Collections: Use strategies to boost cash flow.
  • Follow Up: Schedule regular follow-ups.
  • Anticipate Issues: Address payment delays early.
  • Automate: Use systems for reminders.
  • Contact Overdue Accounts: Use phone, email, and letters.
  • Record Payments: Ensure accurate records.
  • Credit Checks: Assess customer creditworthiness.
  • Set Limits: Monitor and set credit limits.
  • Update Files: Keep credit information current.
  • Manage Debt Collection: Oversee processes.
  • Liaise with Agencies: Work with debt collectors and legal reps.
  • Negotiate: Handle disputes and repayment plans.
  • Improve Efficiency: Streamline processes

You will need to demonstrate:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accountancy, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Proactive approach to chasing payments and managing collections
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar role within the finance department
