Accelerate Teaching is seeking an experienced and dedicated Design and Technology (DT) Technician to support the smooth running of the DT department at a dynamic and forward-thinking secondary school in Wakefield. About the Role:

As a DT Technician, you will play a key role in supporting teachers and students in the delivery of DT lessons. Your expertise and practical skills will ensure that all equipment is well-maintained, resources are readily available, and health and safety standards are upheld. This is a role that demands a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation and setting up of materials and equipment for practical lessons
Ensure all machinery and tools are regularly serviced and in safe working order
Provide in-class support during lessons, helping students with the use of tools and materials
Maintain accurate records of stock, materials, and equipment, ensuring timely reordering when necessary
Adhere to health and safety guidelines and support the implementation of risk assessments
Collaborate with the teaching staff to develop innovative teaching resources and lesson materials

About You:

Prior experience in a similar role within a school or workshop environment is essential
Strong knowledge of machinery, tools, and materials used in a DT setting
A proactive and resourceful approach, with excellent problem-solving skills
Commitment to maintaining a safe and organised work environment
Ability to work effectively with both staff and students
