3rd Line / IT Infrastructure Engineer (Contract) - Wakefield

My client are a leading Logistics company based in Wakefield. They're currently looking for a 3rd Line / Infrastructure Engineer to join them on an initial 4 month contract.

The majority of your time will be spent on infrastructure support & project work and assisting the Group IT manager in more complex operational planning and implementation. Typical end user IT support will form a small aspect of your role (approximately 20%).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement business apps and IT solutions using tools such as Microsoft PowerApps, PowerFX, and Power Automate.
  • Manage and support network infrastructure, including DHCP, DNS, VLANs, WiFi systems, and routing, including Firewall rules.
  • Provide support for virtualisation platforms (Hyper-V, Azure) and server environments (Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Group Policy, Powershell).
  • Perform desktop support and manage PXE machine deployments.
  • Assist in database management (SQL or similar)
  • Participate in IT infrastructure projects across multiple sites, contributing to the evaluation of solutions and suggesting optimal approaches.
  • Write and maintain clear, concise technical documentation.

Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar IT support or infrastructure role, at 3rd line level or demonstrable similar experience.
  • Proficiency in networking (DHCP, DNS, VLANs, WiFi, routing) and virtualisation technologies (Hyper-V, Azure).
  • Familiarity with PowerApps (Power Apps), PowerFX, Power Automate and process automation.
  • Experience with server administration (Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, Powershell).
  • Knowledge of databases (SQL or similar) and desktop support, including PXE machine deployment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially in design and documentation writing.
  • Experience of Exchange 365 / Microsoft Defender or similar technologies, or willingness to learn.
