We are proud to be supporting our fantastic Manufacturing client with the recruit of an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will have proven Payroll experience, strong Excel skills, and proficiency in using time and attendance systems.

As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for managing Payroll processes' and supporting HR functions. This role requires a self-starter who can work independently and contribute to continuous improvements within the department.

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 FTE

Location: Wakefield, WF1 with free onsite parking

Hours: Part time, 24 hours per week, with Mondays being a core day

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage monthly payroll processes and ensure accurate, timely payments for 150 employees.
  • Handle tax deductions, report RTI for PAYE accounts, and process P11D's annually.
  • Enrol employees into the pension scheme and manage monthly uploads.
  • Liaise with payroll systems (Opera and Computime) and implement necessary upgrades.
  • Set up monthly payroll and HMRC payments on the bank.
  • Manage holiday entitlement and annual rollover on Computime.
  • Ensure Computime time and attendance is fully utilized and weekly exceptions are processed.
  • Complete agency timesheets within the required timeframe.
  • Produce offer letters, contracts, and disciplinary letters for new employees.
  • Support HR functions including right to work checks, probationary meetings, and disciplinary meetings.
  • Issue Computime cards to employees and ensure correct access allocation.
  • Ensure all documents are scanned and filed appropriately.
  • Distribute new starter packs and manage their return, entering details into Computime and Opera.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection rules.

What you'll need:

  • Previous experience within Payroll
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, and pension administration.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with people at all levels.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage large data sets.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems is an advantage.
