Wakefield Council is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Procurement Category Manager to join the Procurement Team, focusing on Public Health, Adults Social Care and Children and Young People . This role offers a fantastic opportunity to lead high-impact procurement activities, delivering value for money and innovative solutions across essential services.

You’ll play a pivotal role in full end-to-end procurement, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and best value outcomes. Current projects include Domestic Abuse services and Domiciliary Care services with contracts in value of £40 million.

Responsibilities

· Lead on high-value, complex procurements, ensuring compliance with legislation and achieving best value

· Support and deliver strategic projects within the Public Health, Adults Social Care and Children and Young Peop areas

· Drive efficiency and savings across the procurement lifecycle while ensuring sustainable and innovative outcomes

· Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand service requirements and provide expert procurement advice

· Collaborate with service teams, who will oversee contract management, to maintain alignment with Council objectives

Requirements:

· Proven experience in end-to-end procurement, in the public sector

· Track record of successfully managing high-value and highly complex tenders

· Comprehensive knowledge of public procurement regulations

· CIPS Level 6 qualification
