Senior Quantity Surveyor - Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Fawkes & Reece are proud to be working alongside a UK leading structural steelwork specialist based in Wakefield.


As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will play a crucial part of the commercial team working on a range of building frames and complex structures across a range of sectors including commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, MoD, Leisure, Infrastructure, Residential and retail, with projects typically ranging from 2m - 10m.

The role of Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  • Manage and oversee all cost management aspects of the project, from inception to completion.
  • Prepare, analyse, and review cost estimates, budgets, and tender / pre construction documentation.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide strategic advice to minimise project risks.
  • Monitor project progress, prepare valuations, and handle interim and final accounts.
  • Lead and mentor a team of quantity surveyors, ensuring high-quality delivery and professional development.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • A day will typically include managing all commercial and financial aspects of our client's high profile contract and being responsible for the commercial team to ensure effective cost control as well as value for money from the supply chain and timely delivery of the project.

Requirements of a Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  • Experience within the construction sector.
  • Experience of managing and developing an individual or small team.
