We’re excited to be working with schools in Wakefield. who are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants. The school has a strong reputation for inclusion, and they are looking for someone to help support students in their Autistic Resource Provision (ARP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support: Assist the pupil in the classroom, adapting tasks and activities to their individual needs.
  • Encourage engagement and participation: Motivate to actively participate in lessons, ensuring they feel included and supported.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility: Provide support with physical or emotional needs, including personal care where necessary.
  • Support behavioural and emotional development: Create a positive and supportive environment for their growth.
  • Collaborate with the teacher: Work closely with the class teacher to implement tailored plans and strategies that address individual learning needs.
  • Monitor progress: Keep track of progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents, contributing to student assessments.

The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will have: 

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly with Autism 
  • A strong understanding of how to support children with learning difficulties and emotional/behavioral needs, and a creative, flexible approach to delivering tailored support.
  • Patient, empathetic, and calm with a natural ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to helping others
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to build rapport with students
  • Enthusiasm to be part of a team that supports inclusive education
