About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Caseworker to join our dynamic team in Wakefield. This is a hybrid role, offering a flexible blend of remote working and in-office duties, allowing you to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and young people with special educational needs.

As a SEN Caseworker, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring that their individual needs are met in line with statutory guidelines. You will work closely with families, schools, and multi-agency professionals to ensure that appropriate support and interventions are in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring that they are reviewed, updated, and implemented effectively.
  • Provide advice and support to parents, carers, and schools regarding SEN provision and the EHCP process.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess the needs of children and young people with SEND, ensuring that all statutory deadlines are met.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of casework, ensuring all documentation is managed efficiently.
  • Advocate for children and young people's educational rights, working towards positive outcomes for their education and well-being.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience working within SEN, education, or a related field, particularly in casework or service delivery.
  • Strong understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and other relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with families, professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and proactive approach.
  • A commitment to supporting children and young people with SEND to reach their full potential.
