Purchasing Assistant

Are you a Purchasing Assistant or Junior Buyer ready for their next step?

My client is looking for someone who comes from a manufacturing or engineering background to join their team. You will learn all about the products they manufacture and will have the opportunity to gain your CIPS Qualification.

You’ll work with the purchasing team to ensure all direct and indirect materials are available on time and purchased at the most cost-effective price.

Main Duties:

- Sourcing and placement of orders for contract and non-contract items. Using appropriate MRP reports and manual requisitions.

- Negotiation lower pricing whenever possible.

- Maintenance of Supplier details on the MRP system and review of supplier performance.

- Responsible for monitoring supplier performance and developing improvement programmes.

- Maintenance of minimum stock levels against MRP requirements.

- Adjust component MRP parameters to achieve on time availability and appropriate batch sizes.

- Progress chasing outstanding PO’s in liaison with Production Control.

- Assist Stores personnel when required including stocktaking etc.

- Assist Production Control when required to progress work through the factory.

- Assist in other areas of the Company as required against reasonable requests.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience using MRP/ERP/SAP or similar. Be competent in its use for placing and reviewing Purchase Orders and updating parts and supplier or customer data?
• Experienced in supplier or customer management.
• Demonstrate a competency in the use of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word & Outlook.
• Experience of working in a manufacturing or Engineering / Building environment.
• Possess a good level of Math’s and English.
• Possess excellent communication and assertiveness skills
• Flexible and reliable
• Self-motivated and able to multi-task
• Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure to meet multiple project deadlines.

You’ll be joining a business that puts its employees first and has an excellent working culture. The role is Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm with a little flexibility on start/finish times and is full time onsite. The salary is between £30,000 - £38,000 depending on experience.
