Job Title: English/Employability Functional Skills Tutor
Location: Walsall (Bloxwich)Salary: £22,500 - £30,000 DOEContract Type: Full-time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm)
Role & Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Functional Skills Tutor to join our team in Walsall. In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching in English and Employability up to Level 2, helping learners gain the skills and qualifications they need to succeed.
You will support and inspire young learners, ensuring they achieve their full potential while preparing for employment or further education.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Learning
- Deliver engaging Functional Skills English and Employability sessions up to Level 2.
- Plan and prepare individual learning plans to meet learner needs.
- Contextualise learning to enhance employability and vocational skills.
- Regularly assess learners' work and provide constructive feedback.
- Motivate and engage learners to achieve their full potential.
- Create a positive and stimulating learning environment.
- Embed ICT and digital literacy within lessons where appropriate.
- Support learners in developing confidence, skills, and independence.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Work towards company KPIs and Individual Performance Plan targets.
- Ensure compliance with Ofsted, ESFA, and funding body requirements.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date learner records.
- Maintain high standards of Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, and Health & Safety.
Collaboration & Development
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance curriculum delivery.
- Develop and improve teaching materials and resources.
- Support learner progression into further study or employment.
- Attend team meetings, curriculum development, and training sessions.
Essential/Desirable:
Essential:
- Experience delivering Functional Skills English or Employability to Level 2.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a 14-19 provision.
- Full Teaching Qualification (Cert Ed, C&G 7407, CTLLS, DTLLS).
- Passion and desire to teach.
- Willingness to undertake additional teaching qualifications if required.
- Full, clean UK Driving License.
Desirable:
- Experience working with young people with diverse learning needs.
- Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills.
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging, interactive lessons.
