My client is a small successful engineering business, employee-owned, specialising in special purpose machinery, test rigs, automation and controls & software specific to each customer's individual requirement, for manufacture, assembly and test applications typically in automotive, aerospace and general manufacturing industries. The range of enquiries we receive is highly diverse and the number received from potential new customers is increasing along with the complexity of the requirements
They are looking to recruit a design manager to manage their engineering team with principal responsibilities of role will cover all management aspects through the entire life cycle of the project firstly by understanding what the customer specifications are and translate/draft initial conceptual designs and schemes with our customers at the enquiry stage into firm, detailed initial set of designs and specifications, covering all aspects through the entire lifecycle including performance, cost, safety & compliance, manufacturability etc. working closely with our project manager to ensure we can deliver on time
It is essential that the candidate has a good understanding of Mechanics & design, electrical system, power systems, fluid power, control & measurement and software relating to special purpose machines & test rigs.
They must have great attention to technical detail being capable off recognising technical risks at the quotation stage and being capable of solving them with the design team
Must Have:
Relevant engineering Degree
Software Experience (high level)
- SolidWorks
- Microsoft Apps (Excel, word, and project)
- Maths
Desirable Skills
- Management qualifications
- Chartered engineer / master's degree
