The School and Role

We are looking for Supply Teachers to join an outstanding special school in Walsall, supporting students aged 11–19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). 

This unique role offers the stability of a Guaranteed Pay Scheme (subject to availability and T&Cs), alongside the variety and experience of working across different classes within the school. As a Supply Teacher, you will be delivering a highly tailored curriculum that prepares pupils for life by supporting their communication, independence, and personal development. You’ll be supported by a skilled and experienced team including support staff, therapists, and school leaders, all committed to achieving the very best outcomes for every learner. 

What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Delivering high-quality, engaging lessons aligned with pupils’ EHCPs, learning profiles, and individual targets. 

  • Implementing a curriculum designed to promote confidence, life skills, independence, and communication. 

  • Using a multi-sensory, pupil-centred approach to make learning accessible and meaningful. 

  • Collaborating with class teams to adapt teaching for different needs and abilities. 

  • Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour through consistency, care, and understanding. 

 

The Curriculum: The school’s bespoke curriculum is rooted in the vision to "Prepare for Life". It enables pupils to:

We’re Looking For Someone Who: 

  • Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent) and experience within SEND or specialist settings. 

  • Can adapt teaching methods for pupils with SLD, ASC, and PMLD. 

  • Understands the importance of delivering personalised learning in line with EHCP targets. 

  • Has a positive, patient, and creative approach to overcoming barriers to learning. 

  • Holds a DBS on the update service or is willing to apply for one.
