We are working with a well-established SEMH secondary school in Walsall that provides a supportive, structured, and compassionate environment for students aged 11-18 with SEMH needs, ADHD, Autism, and associated learning challenges.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Science Teacher to join the team from January. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering engaging, accessible, and differentiated Science lessons tailored to vulnerable young people, supporting them to thrive and grow in a dynamic learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on Science lessons that accommodate SEMH and additional needs, fostering curiosity and a love of learning.
  • Support students’ academic and emotional development, instilling resilience and confidence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Differentiate lessons to meet individual needs, integrating practical skills and life applications of scientific principles.
  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and external professionals, contributing to a cohesive and supportive learning community.
  • Encourage scientific inquiry and active learning, empowering students to explore the world of Science with curiosity and confidence.

The ideal Science Teacher will have:

  • Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs, ADHD, Autism, or similar learning challenges.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and strategies for engaging students with complex needs.
  • A commitment to making Science accessible, meaningful, and relevant to students facing unique educational journeys.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and external professionals.
  • The adaptability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced specialist school environment.
