Position Details:

  • Contract Type: Temporary (6 months)
  • Hourly Rate: £12.82
  • Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm - 37.5 hours per week.

As a Research Assistant, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on evaluating the performance of materials used in product manufacturing. Your role will include:

  1. Conducting Pack Performance Tests- Open products and prepare samples for examination.- Manage workload and samples using appropriate IT systems.- Communicate effectively with project leaders and other business personnel.- Work diligently to meet agreed deadlines.
  2. Evaluating Container and Coating Performance- Accurately record critical product performance indicators.- Visually examine samples, noting features of interest and relating observations to potential failure modes.- Utilise advanced techniques such as microscopy to investigate potential issues.- Report findings in formal reports, clearly articulating conclusions and recommendations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A-levels or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant field or equivalent.
  • A strong desire to work in a laboratory environment.

Skills Required:

  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Capability to manage deadlines effectively.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting (not mandatory, as full training will be provided).
  • Intermediate problem-solving skills and creativity.
