Commercial Director – Leisure & Sports Sector

Hertfordshire - £120k  - £130k + Bonus 

Are you a commercially minded leader passionate about driving sales and strategic growth in retail and wholesale businesses?

We are pleased to partner with a well-established SME in Hertfordshire, seeking an experienced Commercial Director to fully own a successful global brand's performance, sales, and product propositions. In this role, you will work closely with the Managing Director, playing a pivotal part in shaping and executing the brand's vision within the sports and leisure sector. You will drive global revenue growth, develop innovative strategies, and build new partnerships that define the business's future success.  

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Development:
  • Develop and execute a robust commercial strategy, identifying new opportunities for brand development across global markets.
  • Sales Leadership:
  • Take full responsibility for sales operations globally, focusing on driving the UK business and expanding through retail, distributor and licensee networks.
  • P&L Ownership:
  • Full ownership of the brand's P&L, ensuring financial performance and accountability for all product propositions.
  • Channel Strategy:
  • Create and launch a successful channel strategy that delivers to UK and global customers across direct-to-consumer (DTC), national accounts, and distributor networks.
  • Market Expansion:
  • Open new distribution channels and develop new product categories, growing the brand's reach and revenue streams.
  • Marketing & Brand Development:
  • Lead marketing initiatives to position the brand for growth, leveraging supply chain expertise to ensure smooth product flow and availability.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture, leading and developing a high-performing team across sales, marketing, and supply chain functions.
What We're Looking For:
  • Proven track record as a Commercial Director or senior leadership role working with a product within the sports, outdoor, or retail sectors.
  • Experience in retail and wholesale environments, with a strong focus on sales, supply chain, and marketing.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing global commercial strategies, including channel and market expansion.
  • Strong understanding of P&L management, with the ability to drive financial performance and accountability.
  • Experience working with distributor/licensee networks and managing strategic national accounts.
  • A people leader with a track record of building high-performing teams and fostering a collaborative, innovative culture.
