Head of Commercial

Visitor Management Software Solutions

Basic salary 45,000 - 50,000, OTE 80,000 + benefits

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a small business who have recently become part of a larger group. They specialise in providing software solutions to measure and report on visitor numbers and visit duration for the heritage sector with some very high profile clients in that market. They are looking for someone to join the small team to manage the commercial function of the business but to be very hands on from an account development and client relationship perspective. Ideally we're looking for someone with a real interest or experience in the heritage sector who also has strong sales/account management and can manage a P&L. Whilst there isn't a team to manage currently it's anticipated that there will be growth in the commercial team in the first year. Software sales experience is preferred but not absolutely essential if you have links to the heritage sector.

The Role:

  • The key responsibility in the role is for P&L and managing the business health from a financial perspective.
  • You'll be hands on with all existing and potential new customers as this is a small business without a specific sales function currently but with some really high profile existing clients.
  • We're looking for you to focus on account management, looking after existing relationships and seeing how to increase potential revenue through additional products or services as well as reviewing pricing.
  • There will be some level of new business expectation but this won't be aggressive and you'll be supported by a marketing team in the wider group.
  • Indepth conversations with customers will include identifying the data they need to gather and if the solution can't be achieved through the existing software, then taking that information to the development team to work out a way to achieve it.
  • It's a hybrid role, with ideally 2 days a week based from the office near Reading.

The Person:

  • It's important that you have either worked with heritage sector clients, or within the heritage sector yourself or at least have a real interest in it.
  • Software sales experience is preferable although if you don't have this but have sold something else into the heritage sector that could also be a good fit.
  • You'll have had P&L responsibility previously and be able to forecast, review business health and understand how to increase revenue from a client base.
  • We need someone who can relate to hands on visitor management services team members within client organisations but also have board level conversations about price points as well as the ability to identify and complete tenders successfully.
  • Overall this is a relationship building position so really strong communication skills are needed and the ability to relate and engage with different people within client organisations. It's not an aggressive sales role but experience with some new business but mostly delivering additional revenue from existing customers is key.
  • A full driving license is needed as you'll be visiting client sites regularly, plus you'll need to be commutable to the Reading area around twice a week from where you live.

The Package:

  • A basic salary up to 50k is offered with an OTE of 80-85k
  • There is a car allowance available
  • Life and medical insurance as well as other benefits
  • This is part of a larger group so ongoing development and career opportunities are definitely available despite this being a small company.
  • This is a market leading product with a great portfolio of customers.
