NET Recruit are supporting a highly successful housing business operating in the Dorset area, on their search for a Group Financial Controller. This is a hybrid role, with up to a couple of days a week expected in Wareham.Your RoleWhile in this position your duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Leading audit duties, ensuring that the process is compliant with company schedules, stakeholder requirements and accounting standards
  • Handling matters relating to the external audit, including signing of unqualified accounts, VAT and Corporation Tax and any risks for non-compliance
  • Overseeing the preparation of the consolidated statutory accounts
  • Leading the consolidation process relating to the production of group management accounts, forecasts and budgets, as well as leading the continuous development of the company's consolidation, budgeting and financial planning system
  • Ensuring that all external reporting for financial statutory and regulatory reporting is done, such as tax and NRosh
  • Advising senior leadership on the setting and implementation of accounting policies and also on compliance with account standards
  • Ensuring that all financial reporting is technically compliant with relevant accounting standards as well as corporate governance, risk management and any external regulations or laws
  • Developing, implementing and reviewing all systems, processes and procedures relating to financial reporting, and ensuring that all other divisions in the finance function comply with policies, and maintaining and on-going cycle to review processes in the Financial Accounting team
  • Handling fixed asset and component accounting
  • Supporting the wider business with technical accounting issues
  • Identifying opportunities for improvements, assessing the impact of these, compiling business cases for implementation, and when approved, rolling out these improvements
You MUST Have:Please apply ONLY if you meet the following criteria:Essential:
  • Excellent technical accounting experience, with senior management accounts and financial accounting
  • Professional qualification with a recognised body such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA
  • Experience handling group consolidation accounting, as well as exposure to FRS102, fixed asset accounting, joint ventures, financial instruments and defined benefit pension accounting
  • Experience in consolidation and statutory accounting, whereupon the external audit process has been managed in a group environment
  • Experience managing the end-to-end process of statutory audits in a group environment
  • Experience in team management, restructuring and team growth, particularly with teams across multiple finance divisions
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and Excel specifically, as well as financial systems (managing, implementing and developing)
Desirable:
  • Exposure to the housing/social housing sector
  • Knowledge of corporation tax, VAT groups & construction industry scheme
  • Experience handling mergers and acquisitions and consolidations for group reporting
  • Prior experience of dealing with Executive Board level professionals
Your Opportunity:The position holder will be a member of the senior finance leadership team, and will be responsible for delivering external financial reporting, submissions and statutory returns. Acting as the technical accounting expert for the group, the position holder will hold responsibility for consolidating and preparing monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and overseeing fixed asset accounting.The business is offering remuneration of up to £90,000 which will accompany a great benefits package including a strong holiday allowance, pension contribution, possibility of additional earnings and a range of other attractive rewards and incentives.
