About the Role:

 

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Electrical Engineer (Design) to provide Electrical Engineering, Design, and Consultancy Services within the highly regulated pharmaceutical sector.

This role is pivotal in supporting the Term Framework Design Manager, ensuring the effective running of the electrical design function while also contributing to project delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in our  mission to deliver innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective clean energy solutions.

This is a part-time opportunity (approx. 8-16 hours per week initially) alongside electrical project activities.

We are looking for a high performer with significant technical expertise, leadership qualities, and a collaborative approach.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Department & Project Support: Assist Document Control with interim audits of the electrical design team's projects.
  • Liaise with the E&I design team to coordinate resource allocation and workload prioritisation.
  • Lead fortnightly team meetings to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Assist in the production and review of design deliverable schedules for project costing.
  • Review drawings and documentation prior to client submission.
  • Identify, communicate, and manage project risks effectively.

 

 

Technical & Leadership Duties:

 

  • Conduct feasibility studies (Class D Estimates) and support tendering activities.
  • Ensure on-time, high-quality, and cost-effective project delivery, meeting client KPIs.
  • Prepare, review, and approve contract documentation, including Scope of Work and Professional Services Agreements.
  • Mentor and train junior electrical engineers, graduates, and trainees.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance to the Electrical Design Team.
  • Lead the team in delivering innovative, sustainable, and value-engineered solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with the portfolio lead to meet design deliverables at different project stages.

 

 

Required Skills & Experience:

 

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or working towards Chartership).
  • Previous experience as a Lead Electrical Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of building services design and electrical & instrumentation design.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field preferred).
  • Deep understanding of design processes, building regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of BS7671 and Fire System design (BS5839).
  • Expertise in Hazardous Area (ATEX) design (BS EN (phone number removed) - Compex qualification preferred.
  • Strong experience in electrical design standards and industrial LV distribution systems.
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and experience in Designer/Principal Designer roles.
  • Experience with digital engineering tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance, accounting, and data management practices.
